Rare Pastel Colour-Change Garnet Facet Rough Parcel #1

This is a rare colour-change garnet faceting rough parcel from Tanzania. There are 3 pieces of facet rough in the parcel with a combined weight of 8.14 carats.

These garnets show a FULL colour change from champagne gold in flourescent light to magenta-pink under incandescent light as the photos show. In daylight have a peach-pink colour.

These color-change garnets are glassy eye-clean faceting rough. The shapes are moderate and on the thin side and are priced accordingly.

Cut these stones for weight retention, not optical perfection! With such rare and expensive material do not try to cut to the optical recommendations or you will be wasting most of your faceting rough. It will take some skill and customized designs to get the best weight retention - use GemCAD or a similar program to modify your diagrams to suit the dimensions of the rough.

Alternatively you could cut the thinner pieces into some stunning cabochons.
