Multicolour Tanzanian Spinel Lapidary Rough

This is a 23.0 ct parcel of bright Spinel Rough for cabbing. It is from Morogoro in Tanzania.

The colours range from bright hot pink to lilac to lavender to steel blue. The spinel pieces are all slightly included and some have a light sleepy haze to them. They will make very bright cabachons for earrings or accent gemstones. They can also be used for faceting though they will not produce clean gems.

The parcel weighs 23.0 ct ranging from about 0.5 ct to 1.5 ct. Spinel needs to be polished using 14,000 grit or higher diamond. It is very hard and durable and takes a brilliant polish.
