Blue-Green Afghan Tourmaline Cab

This is a nice blue-green rectangular gemstone cut from Afghan Tourmaline. It weighs 3.63 carats and measures 10.9 x 6.6 x 4.6 mm.

The colour is a muted blue-green bordering on Indicolite, depending on the light. As shown there are some inclusions and light silk. The back of the gemstone has been left with the original crystal face which shows interesting patterns through the front of the gem.

This gemstone has a beautiful high polish and shows nice flashes when moved. It will make a great ring or pendant.

Tourmaline from Afghanistan is renouned for its vibrant colours and overall brilliance. Most other tourmalines tend to be muddy or dark. The supply of Afghan Tourmaline has improved slightly over the past year but prices are rising dramatically as the world realizes the quality of the gems.
