Large Emerald Facet Rough

This is a rare large piece of deep green Emerald faceting rough. This piece of rough is heavily included with transparent sections - not waxy opaque emerald facet rough normally for sale. The last photo of the group shows the emerald with backlighting. In person the stone is more transparent than shown as the surface features make the photos appear frosted and more included than it actually is.

This piece is well-shaped for good yield. It measures 8.6 x 6.4 x 6.0 mm (5.0 mm if the stepped bit is left out) and weighs 3.08 carats.

The locality of this emerald is unknown but assumed to be Brazilian. It shows dark under a Chelsea filter indicating that this is a Vanadium emerald, not Chromium. As with all emeralds this piece of faceting crystal is assumed to be oiled.

This emerald rough came from an old parcel and once it is gone there is no more. Compare with the tiny pieces of pale mint "emerald" facet rough being offered and you'll see the difference.
